HOW ONE COUPLE HELPED A LUXURY RESORT DOUBLE THEIR SALES IN 2017
Meet Mike & Lauren
Mike and Lauren Seib are former high school sweethearts from the quiet shoreline town of Madison, CT who were just married in August 2017. Mike is a 10-time Emmy Award winning video producer, director, editor and videographer with over seven years experience working on some of sports biggest events including Super Bowl’s XLIII, XLVI, XLIX, LII, The Stanley Cup Playoffs, Triple Crown Horse Racing and Winter and Summer Olympics. Lauren is an entrepreneur and former journalist turned fitness professional with NASM, barre, spin and yoga certified. Together they live in Stamford, CT just outside New York City.
HOW THEY FOUND KALON'S LUXURY SURF RESORT
In 2016 Lauren and Mike were in search of an international vacation. They had no idea where they wanted to go, they just knew they wanted to visit a warm climate and have access to delicious cuisine - very vague criteria. They spend days and nights searching Trip Advisor and found dozens of resorts across the country with outstanding reviews that were within their budget but none of them really stood out as a clear cut winner. Luckily, their dear friends had just committed to seven nights at Kalon Surf, a luxury all-inclusive resort in Costa Rica and they decided to tag along. Upon their arrival they were blown away with the accommodations. The service was excellent and they made fast friends with all the other guests. For seven straight days they enjoyed stunning reviews, empty beaches and ate delicious homemade organic, farm to table cuisine. They also learned to surf, which was an added bonus. As a television producer and self taught filmmaker it was only natural for Mike to break out a camera and document the experience.
THE VIDEO
When they returned home, Mike edited together a three minute highlight tape of their experience. As a television producer with seven years experience, he has had years of experience working with industry leaders to create stunning visuals and polished video, but for this project he wanted to capture the authentic experience and straddle the line between homemade and professional grade video. After a couple weeks, working on the project in his spare time, he passed it along to the other guests and the owner as a memento. What happened next was totally unexpected.

THE RESULTS
The owner of Kalon Surf loved the video. He had experimented with video content in the past but struggled to authentically capture the full experience of a trip to Kalon. Mike gave him the three minute video and a shorter version for social media. Kalon embedded the content on the homepage of their website and passed it along to their public relations team. Within a matter of weeks, Kalon began to get dozens of new inquiring from guests who had seen the video and wanted to learn more about the result. Before they knew it, Mike and Lauren were back in Kalon to create more video content for the hotel. This time they worked to create a new video that expanded upon the surf experience, food, amenities and nearby excursions - as well as create a handful of short form content for social media. By the end of the year, the videos helped make 2017 Kalon Surf’s most lucrative year to due. (add more results)

THEIR OFFERING
In 2018, Mike and Lauren returned to Kalon Surf to continue creating videos for the luxury surf resort. As video continues to become a necessity, they will be creating a new highlight video for the hotel, as well specific videos with interviews that key in on the history of the resort for their about page, their cuisine with an interview with their executive chef, surf coaching with interview with their head surf coach and testimonial videos with guests - as well as a new line of short form video content for their social media platforms and ad campaigns and much more. While 2018 content is currently still in postproduction, below you will find a complete list of all their offerings to date.
